Dutch for Civic Integration
Civic integration means learning the Dutch language and understanding how society works. Newcomers who want to live in the Netherlands long-term must pass the civic integration exam within three years. This exam consists of language components (reading, listening, speaking, writing) and Knowledge of Dutch Society (KNM).
Our language school offers a complete programme that aligns with both the Civic Integration Act 2013 (A2 level) and the Civic Integration Act 2021 (B1 level). Since 2021, municipalities determine the appropriate learning route through a personal PIP: the B1 route, Education route or Z route.

Our lessons fully prepare you for all exam components, including KNM, MAP and additional support modules where needed. Students can attend extra practice sessions

Dutch for Expats
"As an expat in the Netherlands, mastering the Dutch language is a tremendous asset — for work, social contacts and everyday situations. Expats are often not required to complete civic integration, as temporary workers and knowledge migrants fall outside the statutory civic integration obligation. Nevertheless, many internationals consciously choose to learn Dutch, as this strengthens their integration and career opportunities
Our language school offers a complete range of language classes at all levels: from A1 through to B2.. This meets the needs of expats, who depending on their situation sometimes require an official language level. Those who wish to naturalise or pursue a permanent residence permit, for example, need A2 or B1 — with the required level depending on the date on which the BSN was obtained.
The lessons are practice-oriented, flexible and tailored to busy schedules. We work with experienced NT2 teachers and small groups, ensuring plenty of personal attention. You learn to communicate effectively in work situations, during meetings, in social conversations and in everyday interactions such as healthcare appointments or housing matters.
You can also choose from private training sessions, intensive programmes or modules focused on business communication. With our method and personal guidance, you quickly build confidence in Dutch — exactly what expats need to truly feel at home.
Work and Society
Knowledge of Dutch Society
Our school supports students with Knowledge of Dutch Society (KNM) and with practical preparation for participation in the Dutch labour market and society. In the Dutch society lessons you learn how the Netherlands works: rules, housing, healthcare, education, benefits, DigiD and social customs — all topics that are officially part of KNM programmes at professional language institutes. These lessons not only help you prepare for the exam, but above all help you better understand everyday life in the Netherlands.
Guidance towards the labour market
Many expats find that applying for jobs in the Netherlands works differently than in their home country. That is why we help you with practical skills, such as writing a Dutch CV, improving your LinkedIn profile and practising job interviews. We also pay attention to Dutch work culture, for example communication in the workplace, work etiquette and unwritten rules during job applications and at work.
Practical support
Finally , we offer practical support, such as help with completing tax forms and understanding government bodies. This connects to the KNM theme "functioning in contact with institutions", in which students learn to deal with government, taxes, benefits and other social processes.
Self-study
Many people start learning Dutch on their own through apps, videos or books. After a while, they often find it difficult to progress further, especially towards B1 level:
- too little speaking experience
- unclear what to practise
- slow progress
Our SamiTaal Self-Study Package is for people who study independently but need extra structure and personal guidance. The package includes:
- Intake interview to determine your current level
- Personal study advice
- A number of guided sessions in small groups focused on:
- speaking skills, grammar and preparation for the civic integration exam
- being able to communicate well with neighbours, friends, a doctor or colleagues
In addition, you will receive:
- Tips for useful apps and websites
- Exercises for reading, listening and speaking
- Practical assignments to practise independently
This way you keep making progress and can easily switch to a regular course later if you wish.
